Childbirth Education classes help mothers-to-be and their families navigate changes taking place in their lives. A woman’s journey to motherhood can be less stressful and more rewarding with knowledge and support. Women are encouraged to share the experience by bringing a support person to all classes.


Each session is composed of two classes. They are required for first time moms giving birth at RCDH and are open to anyone in the community.

- Induction or Augmentation of labor

- Early labor signs

- Onset of labor

- 2nd stage of labor interventions

- Birth

- Cesarean births

- Newborn medical procedures

- Skin-to-skin contact

- First feeding and breastfeeding

- Rooming in

- Newborn appearance, senses and crying


- Baby blues and Postpartum mood disorders

- Postpartum recovery, warning signs, emotions, support

- Tour of the Family Birth Center birthing rooms
